Mineral prospection in the Ilam Province
This study was carried out after a contract between the Industries and Mines Organization of Ilam and Madankav Consulting Engineers at 1999. The aim of study was regional prospection of minerals in the province. The current report assesses the mineral potential of the Ilam Province and considers five new favorable zones. Four zones of them were prospected for building and decorative stones and a zone for celestine and barite. The report include two portions, the first portion is about the prospection of building stones in the province and the second portion about Celestine and barite exploration in the Choghalzard-e Buli area.
Geochemical studies in the Choghalzard-e Buli at 1996 show that average barite content of heavy mineral samples (seven samples) is 150 ppm, while the Choghalzard valley contains up to 1800 ppm barite. A celestine indication was found in the southernmost portion of the study area, in the Mole Zange valley. The mineral concentration is three times higher than regional grade. The results show that the Choghalzard-e Buli shoud b explored in more detail for celestine and barite.
