Preliminary exploration of Bukan bauxite, volume two: thin and polished sections
Exploration Services Company
42 mineral samples of bauxite including 17 samples from Shiteh and 25 samples from Sarchaveh areas were studied. Geochemical analysis and XRD test were also conducted on them. 91 thin sections were prepared and studied of which 42 thin sections studied for identification of texture, structure and mineralogy of bauxite and phyllosilicates.
49 polished sections were studied to identify the texture and structure of opaque minerals as the base of mineralogy, economic geology, and deposit genesis considerations. Because, rarely, the geochemical composition of mineral can be identical, ore microscopy is a key for ore dressing. These studies with other methods such as spectrometry and XRD are important for assessment and identification of minerals.
In this study, after identification of minerals, mineralogy, quantitative and qualitative analysis and textural interpretation of formation condition were considered. Hope this work can provide a base for next exploration steps.
