Zanjan Province is located in central part of northwestern Iran. There are several natural, historical, social and cultural attractions in different parts of Zanjan Province, but most attractions are concentrated in Abhar and Zanjan counties. Natural attractions like mountains, rivers, falls, mineral springs and lakes are the main points of interest for tourists.
In addition to natural attractions, historical buildings and monuments make Zanjan a sought after destination for tourists. For example, Soltanieh Dome as the seventh Iranian site in the list of world heritage is one of the biggest and most prominent Islamic structures in Iran. It lies at the southwest of the Cohan Dej (Royal citadel). It was constructed during the reign of Sultan Mohammad Khoda Bandeh (Oljaito) in 704-712 AH.
Zanjan industry relies on its valuable mines. Also, handicraft industry has added to its economic strength.
