Explanotory note of 1:50000 geology map of Shahkuh Mountain
Puyakan Sharq Cons. Engs.
Based on the contract between the Puyakan Sharq Consulting Engineers and Industries and Mines Organization of Khorasan, a 1:50000 geological mapping was started in the area that is 1200 Km2. This report contains the result of filed and lab studies. The report lacks the geochemical data. The project was conducted through data gathering, photogeology, geological mapping and interpretation. The Shahkuh Mountain is located in the south of Birjand, east Iran. The study area includes parts of four 1:50000 sheets of Karba, Chahbak, Mighan and Rekhneh.
Dominant rocks include sedimentary-metamorphic complexes and igneous bodies of Mesozoic and Cenozoic. Considering the geological setting and granite-related mineralization, this area is favorable for Sn and W mineralization and also Cu-skarns. Non-metallic mineral potentials involve graphite, andalusite, silimanite, alkali-feldspar and decorative stones.
The Early Cimmerian orogeny has caused metamorphism of the Dehsalm region after which in the J/C boundary, the Shahkuh granite has intruded in this zone. This body has two distinct compositions of granite-granodiorite and syenite to alkali-granite.
