Consultant: Kan-Azin Consulting Engineers
Technical supervisor: Hamidreza Rezaie
The Golestan Province is located in the north of Iran. It was prospected for phosphorite resources. After collecting information from various documents in the province, the potential formations were determined and proposed for field survey. In the field survey along the planned sections, no considerable evidence of phosphorite was found. The Atamir formation has the most potential for this mineral, but it has no good exposures of the mineral.
Intensive vegetation cover caused that we can not get required data from some regions of the province. Atamir, Mila, Khosh Yeylaq, Gorgan complex are among the potentially phosphate-bearing formations. At whole 19 sections were traveled, totally up to 77.7 Km. 60 samples were taken for various tests in two steps of field survey. Unfortunately, the province failed to show evidence of considerable phosphate minerals.
