Iron, Gold and Copper Primary Exploration and Prospecting in Sarbisheh, South Khorasan

Project of "Iron, Gold, Copper and Ornamental Stone Prospecting and Exploration in Sarbisheh" was carried out in a 10000-square km zone located at 59° 30’-61° E, 32°-33° N within 1:100000-scale maps of Sarbisheh, Sahlabad, Parang, mehrud. In general, 65 anomalies of mentioned areas were studied and controlled by consulting engineers. 35 of the anomalies were obtained using Aster data processing. Alteration minerals were recorded in these anomalies and then processed and interpreted by experts of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (Karimpur et al., 2006). Finally, anomalies were introduced. In addition, 10 anomalies related to indices and rock units with possibility of mineralization and 20 anomalies related to abandoned copper mines (including copper and iron) were introduced. 263 samples including 43 samples for preparation of thin sections, 7 samples for preparation of polished sections, 105 chip samples, 8 samples for XRD, 90 stream sediment samples and 10 heavy mineral samples. Also, 8 control samples were taken to be assured of samples analysis results. Based on the results of the analysis of chip samples, Au maximum concentration (2470 ppb) was in sample Ch-39 taken from anomaly No. 18 of Parang (Shurak Copper Mine), Cu maximum concentration (39500 ppm) was also found in the mentioned sample and Fe maximum concentration (647000 ppm) was in sample Ch-89 taken from satellite anomaly No. 4 of Mehrud. Analysis of stream sediment samples showed that Au maximum concentration (28 ppb) was in sample Str-60 taken from satellite anomaly No. 10 of Parang, Cu maximum concentration (2350 ppm) in sample Str-21 taken from anomaly No. 18 of Parang and Fe maximum concentration (66800 ppm) in sample Str-32 taken from satellite anomaly No. 3 of Sahlabad. Analysis of heavy mineral samples showed sample Hm-1 taken from anomaly No. 9 of Sahlabad (Mirsimin Listvenite), sample Hm-8 taken from anomaly No. 7 of Sahlabad (Mahalabad Listvenite), sample Hm-22 of taken from anomaly No. 18 of Parang (Shurak Copper Mine), and sample Hm-85 taken from satellite anomaly No. 3 of Sarbisheh (Bijaem Hyrothermal Alteration) respectively contained 0.05, 0.17, 0.05 and 0.06 ppm Au. Regarding the obtained results, study on the mentioned anomalies is suggested.
