   Abstract

Tang Goorak region with an area of 186km2 is located in the north of Fars province between two cities of Oqlid and Safashahr. The area encompasses the southwest margin of Koli Kosh neck elevations along Esfahan-Shiraz road.
Tectonically this region is situated in Sirjan-Sanandaj zone, foldings are of axes with NW-SE trend and faults are mainly thrusts pushing different rock units upon each other towards the southwest. Geologically the area is composed of Paleozoic and Mesozoic units in which phenomena of directional shear, crushing and foliation have formed during the metamorphism process. Also in the northernmost of this region the shear zone has changed into complete schists with proper schistosity.
In terms of exploration and metallogeny, Tang Goorak region is respectively part of Faridan-Arsanjan exploration zone and Koli kosh metamorphic complex. This zone enjoys high mineral potential of lead, zinc, copper, gold, iron, cobalt and titanium mineralization, which is in relation with shear and metamorphic zones. Among the important mineralizations of this region the reference can be made to those of iron, copper and gold. The formation of these ore bodies is concerned with the ascend of metamorphic fluids having minerals as well as deposition of minerals along these shear zones.
Considering the geochemical results, Au, Cu, Mn, Fe, Zn, Pb anomalies are correlated with metamorphic zones. The most significant geochemical anomalies belong to iron, lead, zinc and manganese. The consequences obtained from heavy mineral studies indicate that this exploratory region can be noticeable for gold, copper, manganese and somewhat iron .These anomalies confirm one another while correlated with Koli kosh metamorphic complex.
6 areas were finally introduced as the exploratory promising regions through merging all related data as follows:
*Exploratory areas TG-4 and TG-3 with the first and second exploration priorities for gold and copper
*Southern part of the promising region TG-1 with an area of 2km2(200 ha) including Tang Goorak iron index for iron
