The present report is the result of local scale preliminary prospection and studies within Darmian county 100km east of Birjand with an area of 4000km2.Avaz, Khooshab, Dastgerd, Asadabad, Dahane Tangal and Hezar Sangab Mountain topographic sheets (1:50000) as well as Gazic and Khooshab geological maps 1:100000 scale and other information like RS and airborne geophysics maps have been the main basis of these studies.
The region is of semi-arid climate in mountainous areas and the arid one in plains. Among the income resources of villagers are agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts and laboring.
Geologically speaking, the plains have considerably spread out over western and eastern sides of the area. In the central part the rocks dependent on the oceanic crust and also the intrusive rocks with north-south trend faulted in some areas are abundant. In addition, low-height dune-bedded flysch facies can be seen in some parts.
180 samples were totally taken from this area of which 107are sediments of the secondary halo of alluvia aiming at geochemical explorations, 53 are rock samples aiming at chemical analysis from primary haloes, 13 are petrography, 6 are polished sections and 1aiming at mineralogy. Having been prepared in (-200 mesh) grading, geochemical samples were sent to Als-Chemex laboratory of Canada for some chemical tests and then analyzed for 35 elements.
