The study area is more than 2500 km4 located between 44° 30/ - 45° E longitudes & 38° 30/ - 39° N latitudes. The sheet is one of the Khoy 1:250000 geological map sheets located northeastern of the above map named after its 1:250000 map.
In the area, chromite is hosted by ophiolite in its Dunite-harzburgite-serpentinite series of ophiolites. Magnesite occurred as sporadic & discrete outcrops in ophiolites.
Manganese along with radiolarites has been outcropped somewhere in the sheet. Copper mineralization occurs both in ophiolites & altered unites. It is noteworthy that in the northeast of Kolvans/ southwest of Shoorik & east of Borzhook no copper mineralization / north east of Borzhook was not visited due to inaccessibility. Iron outcrops accompanied with radiolarites & manganese & metamorphic facies as well and talc as talc schist are among the other mineralized outcrops in the area. Gold & mercury anomalies are not economically considerable.
Outcrop of chromium mineralization in northeast of Kolvans has elevated the area as a mineral promising area. Moreover/ southeastern part of Ghorghan and west of Ravand placed an emphasis on the area as a chromium promising area.
