The area of studied region is about 70 km2. it is located at west of Mokhtaran village between 58? 58' 38" to 59? 04' 26" eastern longitudes and 32? 24' 52" to 32? 30' 52" northern latitudes. it is part of 1:50000 topography map of Borzaj.
From structural view, this area is located in Central Iran, between Lut and Nehbandan-Khash subzones. Structural trend of the area is NW-SE. Exposed rock units are mostly Cenozoic igneous units including hornblende andesite, quartz andesite, trachyandesite, travertine, breccia, agglomerate, and altered andesite, pyroxene andesite, trachyandesite, latite and tuff.
In this survey 274 stream-sediment, 64 heavy mineral and 14 mineralized samples were analyzed for Zn, W, V, Ti, Sr, Sn, Sc, Sb, Pb, Ni, Mo, Mn, Hg, Fe, Cu, Cr, Co, Cd, Bi, Ba, Au, As and Ag elements.
Various elements were anomalous in several samples: cadmium 5 samples, barium 6 samples, nickel 6 samples, molybdenum 4 samples, mercury 8 samples, scandium 4 samples, chrome 4 samples, wolfram 3 samples, iron 4 samples, copper 5 samples, cobalt 7 samples, bismuth 4 samples, manganese 7 samples, gold 4 samples, arsenic 6 samples, silver 7 samples, titanium 5 samples, vanadium 10 samples, zinc 4 samples, lead 4 samples, antimony 6 samples and strontium 6 samples.
Obtained heavy minerals include magnetite, hematite, oligist, martite, pyrite, pyrite oxide, scheelite, chalcopyrite, cinnabar, orpiment, ilmenite, rutile, anatase, sphene, leucoxene, burkeite, pyroxene, olivine, apatite, zircon and gold.
Andesites at Ghallekhane-Sburak contain a N-S trending zone that is 100m wide and 1 Km long. This zone that parallels with tectonic lineament comprises limonitic, hematitic and silicic veinlets. This zone shows evidence of sulfide mineralization and malachite.
