Systematic geochemical survey in the 1:100000 sheet of Ferdows

The study area is parts of the central Iran mountains around the city of Ferdows that is located between 58-58 30' E and 34-34 30' N. the rock outcrop trend is north - south to northwest - southeast, along mountains of central Iran. In the hot season mean temperature reaches 35 to 40 Celsius. Ferdows hot spring in the Takurang volcano has mineral water.
The major part of this mountainous region has composed of volcanic rocks, which formed during the Cenozoic. Those lavas were flowed over the Carboniferous and Jurassic sediments. Mentioned rocks have been intruded by granite to granodiorite bodies. The metamorphism resulting from the effect of granite bodies at the same time include several stages that appeared as schistosity in the rocks occurred at east of the study area. Here the assemblage of mentioned metamorphic rocks folded as isoclinal folds. They show regional metamorphism facieses.
In this project 23 element were selected for chemical analysis: Ti, Sr, Sb, Sn, Sc, Pb, Ni, Mo, Mn, Hg, Fe, Cd, Cr, Cu, Co, Ba, Bi, Au, As, Ag Zn, W, V. considering the sampling density of one sample per 23 km, approximately 800 samples must be taken and analyzed.
For optimal distribution of samples and obtaining favorable results from data, the initial design of sampling points were based primarily on the gravity center of channels. After analyzing the samples, required statistical analyses and processes were run. As the result, several primary anomalies were mapped that should be checked in the filed.
To control the geochemical anomalies in the Ferdows sheet, 164 heavy mineral samples were taken and studied, the result of which attached in the appendix of chapter.
Finally several anomalies confirmed for further studies.
1 - West and Northwest Village Jazyn: This anomaly covers about 30 square kilometers and is located in the Jazyn 1:50000 sheet. Lithologic units in this area include rhyolite, alkali rhyolite, alkali trachyte, rhyodacite, dacite, latite, and acidic tuff etc. Elements Au, Mo, W, Pb, Zn, Hg, Fe, Ba are anomalous in this area. Considering the field evidence, this anomaly in this area is the first priority for exploration.
2 - West of Gargu mountain: This anomaly is an area about 15 Sq. kilometers in the 1:50000 sheet of Jazyn. Rock units in this area include limestone, rhyolite, alkali rhyolite, alkali trachyte, dacite, andesi-basalt etc. The elements Au, Cd, Sn, Mn, Co, Sr and V are anomalous. There are slag and old workings in the area that contain limonite, galena, barite, and manganese. In this part the geochemical anomalies, heavy mineral and mineralized samples prove one another.
