This sheet is located in Yazd province at longitudes 55?30' to 56?E and latitudes 32? to 32?30' N.
The region, 150 km long and 30 km wide is situated in the middle part of Bafq-Poshtebadam metallogenic belt trending from north, northwest-south to southeast (alongside the Poshtebadam fault). This belt contains rich resources of iron, uranium, phosphate, lead, zinc, copper and rare elements. This sheet is located in the neighborhood of Chadormalou iron and Saghand uranium mines. Several indications and excavations, especially in Zirehkhan sheet and Milzaghi Mountain as well as some wide alterations cause this area along with Ariz sheet (1:100000) to be considered among promising zones of high degree.
From geological point of view, here intrusions with granite, granodiorite and diorite compositions have emplaced in metamorphic complexes with northwest-southeast trend. Outcropped rocks of this area are Soltaniyeh dolomite, sandstone and shale of Tashk Formation, dolomite, sandstone and magma of Rizu Formation and mica schists of Tashk 1 Unit. Paleozoic rocks consist of limestone and dolomite of Mila, shale, sandstone and siltstone of Barout and limestone of Aqda. Mesozoic deposits are conglomerate and limestone of Cretaceous, marl with marl limestone interlayers of Baghmoshah Formation, shale and sandstone of Shemshak and granite-gneiss of Zamanabad. The deposit of Cenozoic units including basal conglomerate of Paleocene, gypsiferous marl of Oligo-Miocene, old alluvial terraces and coarse-grained alluvial deposits is the final part of the geological history of the area.
The composition of the intrusions of the region varies from coarse crystal to the fine crystal granite, granodiorite, diorite and gabbro. Moreover; volcanic rocks constitute a wide range of basic types like basalt, andesite trachyte, dacite and volcanoclastic rocks. Effects of these intrusions and volcanics have brought about the creation of siliceous, argillic, propylitic and kaolinitic alterations.
Having been analyzed and examined, the samples taken within this sheet were statistically studied for identifying the anomalous regions and then specifying the prioritized ones. The statistical study includes statistical calculations of raw data, separation of rock communities, measurement of the Clark value of elements in outcropped rocks of the area, study of the local background in each rock community and comparison of it with the general community, calculation of the enrichment index and homogenization of communities, study of the out of order values, normalization of enrichment indexes, determination of correlation coefficient, multivariable statistical studies, cluster analysis and its interpretation as well as factor analysis. Two map sheets have also been provided.
Most mineralizations and excavations are seen in the emplacement place of several intrusions, especially with granite composition in limestones, dolomites and schists. They cause some geochemical anomalies. In Zireh Khan sheet in southern part of Chadormalou iron mine, end of Zireh Khan sheet in Milzaghi Mountain in Chadormalou sheet and beside Saghand uranium mine, the observed mineralization effects of iron, copper, lead and zinc have been taken into account while selecting the promising areas and the existence of gold and iron skarn anomalies next to Saghand uranium doubles their importance.
