Preliminary mineral potential map of the Irankhah 1:100000 sheet
The study area is located 45 km away from SE of Saqez, in the Kordestan Province. Three methods of weight of evidence, logistic regression analysis and Fuzzy logic were used for assessment of mineral potentials of the area, based on geology, geochemistry, geomagnetic, remote sensing and mineral distribution data layers.
After analysis and processing of data, several favorable mineralized zones identified that should be checked in the field. Filed visit was done at 2000, in four different zones that have higher potentials. The firs zone is located in 46 35' 5" eastern longitude and 36 16' 37" northern latitude, near the Papishkhan village. The contact of Paleocene granite with Permian limestone, there is a skarn zone with iron-copper mineralization. It is E-trending and continues for 2 Km with a width of 5 to 50 m. it has also 1ppm gold.
The second zone that located at 46 47' 05"E and 36 20' 49"N contains intermediate volcanic rocks in limestone. Composition of silica gel and iron has formed gasper. This are is probably a potential for manganese and copper mineralization. There are silica veins in the area. The limestone has metamorphosed to marble.
The third zone located at 46 42' 50"E and 36 12' 23" N encompass a sequence of shale, sandstone and limestone. There are numerous silica veins in the Cretaceous dolomite and shale. The fourth zone at 46 38' 27"E and 36 25' 57"N includes rhyolitic rocks with iron-bearing zones. Hematite and magnetite exists mainly in fracture zones.
