Kany-Shireh is located in northeastern Songhor, 2.5km west of Chermaleh Bala Village.
Songhor iron bearing zone and Khosro Abad are located in metamorphic trains. The area contains the volcanic-carbonatic series of Songhor, Cretaceous-Tertiary limestone and intrusive rocks. Kany-Shireh located in Songhor series, which totally metamorphosed in green schist facies. The unit is upper Triassic-Jurassic in age. The genesis of the deposit is in relation to Alvand and Kharsoreh intrusive bodies. Hydrothermal fluids leached Fe through their passage within metamorphic country rocks and have deposited minerals in the contact of limestone and veins. Fe outcrops include four masses:
1- S1 with 42.1% iron content
2- S4 with 53.4% iron content
3- S5 with 56.6% iron content
4- K5 with 55.45% iron content
Maximum measured iron grade is 58.67%.
