Mineral exploration in the 1:100000 sheet of Giranrig, Sistan and Baluchestan Province
The study area is located in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province between 59 to 59 30' eastern longitudes and 28 to 28 30' northern latitudes. The area is situated in the SE of Jebal-e Barez batholite and Bazman volcano, and belongs to the Southeast and Central Iran zones. Geology of the area is under dominancy of Pliocene-Quaternary deposits. Due to active volcanism, all post-Eocene rock units contain volcanic rocks. Giranrig Mountain is highest point (2090m) that includes andesite, olivine basalt and volcanic breccia.
At whole 638 stream sediment samples were taken that analyzed for 22 elements. Au was analyzed by atomic absorption and the other elements by ICP Mass methods. After processing the data, 19 anomalies were identified. By controlling these zones and obtaining mineralized and heavy mineral samples that their data were compiled with structural data of the area, three zones were introduced for further study. They include the southern area of Golabad-e Gigan and Shashkan that show intensive alteration and mineralization, south of Cheshmeh Giranrig and south of Bachugan and the area to the south of Mohammad and Dahanehbardsu.
