Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari is located in the central area of Zagros Mountain. It is bounded on north and east by Isfahan, on west by Khouzestan and on south by Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad.
People usually speak Persian here. In villages, rural Persian is common. People of some cities and regions in this province such as Saman, Ben and villages near Shahr-e-Kord speak Turkish. Bakhtiari dialect that is one of the important branches of Pahlavi language also is spoken in this province.
Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari owes its landscape to its middle elevations, Zagros Mountains. Snow accumulation in elevations lead to permanent rivers of southwestern and central Iran: Karoon, Zayandehroud and Dez. Subsidence simultaneous with tectonic movements of Zagros and water resulted from snow melting in high mountains form several ponds that are habitat of different plants and animals.
Various climates and enough rainfall result in attractive landscapes, rivers, dense forests, tulip gardens and mountainous plants. Regarding its morphology, geographical position and height, Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari has a mountainous climate.
